Open house -- Art themed
Sunday, November 19, 2017
The William S. Hart Museum will be open from 11:00am to 4:00pm for exploration.
The theme for the day will be Art. Mr. Hart had a great eye for art, and acquired a collection containing excellent examples of Western art. We want to honor that interest by focusing on painting and sculpture, and learn how artists worked. We will provide information about what to look for when viewing art, show that many of the art works in the house tell stories, and have hands-on activities where you can learn about and practice some of the techniques used by artists to achieve the effect they want. We will look at what are some of the common features in paintings by one of Hart’s favorites, Charles M. Russell, and ask for your help in analyzing a painting to figure out, “Is this a real Russell – why or why not?”
